The myth of the self-sufficient artistic genius that is free from all social responsibilities is an outdated patriarchal idea.
We are a growing network of caregiving artists. We are developing a different understanding of artists that is defined by connection and solidarity: We think of creating artistic projects and helping to shape life together.
We are joining our forces to ensure that
creating art with care work can grow into a social vision
we feel supported and are supported in return
needs can be expressed in protected spaces
pressure can be released and our full strength can bloom
vulnerability as a basic condition of life is respected
children and other caretakers are welcome in our lives
we can take breaks to help our resources recuperate
more space will become accessible for caretakers and caregiver
our mindfulness expands past the human
together we can change role models and power structures
we renegotiate the definition of work together

art+care Association
As an association, the core team and the board of directors are responsible for the organizational management of all activities and initiatives of this interdisciplinary, national network.
The association’s goal is to promote the compatibility of artistic and cultural activities with caregiving responsibilities, addressing the tension between paid work and care work. Care work encompasses the necessary social care for people of all ages within one’s own social circle.
The association strengthens care perspectives amid structural changes in the arts and culture sectors, raises their interdisciplinary visibility, and helps shape concrete measures for fair, social, sustainable, and non-discriminatory practices.
It creates formats for the exchange of experiences and knowledge among stakeholders and actively participates in public discourses and platforms. In addition, it seeks to network with stakeholders, initiatives, and organizations that pursue similar goals in society, culture, business, and politics.
